And so it goes.

And so it goes.

Words about stuff about words.

New Frontier

I'm embarking today on an exciting and somewhat scary journey. My amazing agent, Natalie, and I are going to self publish my novel OUT.

We haven't come to this decision lightly. But with publishing changing so rapidly, many traditional publishers seem afraid to take on a project that is by its nature controversial, especially during an election year. The idea behind OUT is pretty radical, and I guess some people just aren't ready for it. But I don't think that's true of readers.

Readers, in my opinion, are much more open and interested in new ideas than publishers are. By going directly to the audience, I think OUT will have a better chance of being seen and shared than it would have if it had been half-heartedly promoted by a publisher fearful of repercussions.

So, in the months to come, I will be promoting the hell out of this book, because I think people need to read it. It's not because I wrote it. It's because the idea is important: that seeing the world of gender inequity through a fresh perspective might change some minds. I sincerely hope so.

I would love to hear what you think about all of this. If you are reading and could comment, I'd sure appreciate it.
