And so it goes.

And so it goes.

Words about stuff about words.

Timing is everything?

If you're following this blog, you know that I'm pushing forward with self publishing OUT.  I have a successful Kickstarter project up and running, and all kinds of good things in the works.

And along comes a complication!

I had planned on getting this book out before the election, because I thought the issues was very important. I still do. But as often happens when we make plans, things crop up that we don't expect.

In this case, what cropped us is a good thing, or a potentially good thing. I won't go into details just yet, but there is serious interest in making OUT a film or TV series. Great, huh? I'm not just talking about me and my friends hanging out in my backyard figuring out who we'd cast (just a note to the Muse: if it does become a movie, if there's any way you can work Benedict Cumberbatch into the cast, i will be eternally grateful.)  No, the interest is more than passing. It's serious, and possibly a game changer, even though I really hate when people use that term "game changer".  Makes it sound like life is one big sporting event.

So, here's the complication. Should I wait to see what happens with this film/TV avenue and hold off on publication until that's settled, or just push onward with my plans?  If I just move on with my plans, it could sour the deal; the book would not be a new or unique commodity anymore, and might not appeal to producers. On the other hand, if I want it to make a political statement, should I push to get it out before November?  Does it matter? It appears that LGBT issues will be with us for some time longer, judging from the hellacious long lines at Chick-Fil-A.

So, I'd like your opinion. What do you think about this timing conundrum?
